Northeast Florida is a great place to live, work and play. Our weather, natural and cultural resources, recreational and entertainment opportunities, strong and diverse economy, and breathtaking beaches have inspired more than 1.3 million people to call our region home. Over the next 50 years we expect that number will more than double.
Today, Northeast Florida’s most pressing challenges, such as transportation, are taking on a regional scale. Recognizing the transportation issues facing our region, Senate Bill 2470 was enacted creating the Northeast Florida Regional Transportation Study Commission. The Commission is made up of representatives of the seven counties of the Northeast Florida region (Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Putnam).
Over the next two years, the Regional Transportation Study Commission will develop a long-range regional transportation vision and a strategy to implement that vision. Their efforts will help ensure our region’s transportation vision is geared to promote economic growth and enhance the high quality of life we enjoy.
